The American Guest Quarters has more than 200 members.

 

Our members are as diverse as the wide range of activities and services offered at the GQ.

 

Below are our membership types:

Full
Full
United States citizens, and U.S. resident aliens, who are employees of the United States Federal Government (to include Eligible Family Members (EFMs) and Members of Household (MOH)) assigned to a tour of duty in Lagos, Nigeria and acting under the jurisdiction of the Principal Officer.
Possession of “Duty-Free Entry” privileges shall be a requirement in determining eligibility for Full membership.
Associate
Associate
– United States citizen and U.S. resident aliens, who are employees of contractors funded by United States agencies

– Third country national direct-hire or contract personnel, recruited from outside Nigeria and relocated to Lagos for employment by the

United States Government under the provisions established in 6 FAM 544(a)

– United States citizens whose presence abroad is for the purpose of implementing United States federally funded programs under the jurisdiction of the Principal Officer under the provisions established in 6 FAM 542(b)

American International School Teachers
American International School Teachers
United States citizen school teachers and administrators, hired from outside of the host country and employed by the (local International/American School) under the provisions established in 6 FAM 542(c). Access is not accorded to locally hired U.S. citizen schoolteachers under this category.
Children in this category must be under the age of 18 to receive derivative membership
Possession of “Duty-Free Entry” privileges shall be a requirement in determining eligibility for American International School Teacher membership.
Diplomatic Memberships
Diplomatic Memberships
Members of other diplomatic communities and international organizations stationed within the host country under the provisions established in the Third Country Diplomat (TCD) Program in 6 FAM 545 and family members listed under their diplomatic orders. Possession of “Duty-Free Entry” privileges

shall be a requirement in determining eligibility for commissary access or its equivalent accorded to third country diplomats.

Temporary Memberships
Temporary Memberships
Memberships may be extended to citizens of the United States, who are employees of any agency of the United States Government, assigned to temporary duty or an official visitor to post. Temporary memberships are limited to a period not exceeding six months from the date of original issuance.
Guest Memberships
Guest Memberships
United States citizens resident in country
– Local nationals, third country nationals, third country diplomats, or other non-U.S. Government personnel as well as other infrequent visitors to post and persons not heretofore mentioned.
– Children in this category must be under the age of 18 to receive derivative membership
*Nannies – Require separate application to be vetted and an additional fee of $200
